Amanda Berg is a nationally Registered Medical Assistant through American Medical Technologists. She attended Anthem Institute in NYC, where she got her start at Medical Associates of Wall Street in 2010. She began her 12 year journey in dermatology. She had a vast array of hands-on experience in medical, cosmetic, and surgical dermatology tenure. She worked nights on the transplant/vascular unit at Norfolk General Hospital as a nursing student.
While she became part of the team here at Seriously Health, she also works as a polysomnographic technician for neurology and sleep medicine clinic. She will be finishing her nursing degree and plans on continuing to expand her knowledge in weight loss medicine. She enjoys learning about all of the different modalities of weight loss innovations and how they can help each patient reach their individual goals. Her hope is to eventually become part of a surgical bariatric team.
"I have been very humbled during my time in the medical field, seeing how well a patient's quality of life can improve from something that may seem so small. Weight loss is such a pertinent aspect of a person's quality of life. When my patient is able to lose weight, they not only feel better about themselves and develop more solid sense of confidence; their other pre-existing health problems can improve as well. Diagnoses such as hypertension, hyperlipidemia, and hyperglycemia have better control- sometimes no longer requiring long-term medication. A patient's cardiovascular health improves. Chronic joint pain improves.
My patients who manage their weight properly can often relieve their need for breathing devices with obstructive sleep apnea. It is amazing how much weight is related to inflammatory skin conditions such as atopic dermatitis, psoriasis, and Hidradenitis Suppurativa. Providers here are very receptive, understanding, educated, and aware of tailor medication and lifestyle regimens for each patient and their needs. I'm so excited to be a part of Seriously Health and our continued service to the Hampton Roads area."
